The ideal DevOps candidate will have experience as a Microsoft DBA for On-Prem and Azure SQL servers as well as an understanding of DevOps principles and practices bringing experience, leadership, strong communication skills and a sense of responsibility for a Microsoft on prem and Azure cloud CI/CD environment. This position will ensure applications and databases are deployed successfully, operating smoothly, reliably, and adhering to high security and privacy standards.

You will be working closely with infrastructure, development, and architecture teams to automate and accelerate the testing, release, and deployment of applications as well as maintaining our databases in various environments. Occasionally tasks or unexpected issues will arise outside of normal business hours that will require your attention.

  • Maintain a current understanding of trends and updates in your role

DevOps Engineer Duties:

  • Collaborate across teams to streamline and simplify builds and the deployment of a large-scale ecommerce platform
  • Solve problems in ways that drive towards simplicity of architecture and operations
  • Collaborate with development, quality assurance, architecture, infrastructure, security, and product owners
  • Monitor production infrastructure for security, availability, and performance
  • Solve production security, availability, and performance issues
  • Assist with replication and eventual complete migration to Azure
  • Assist team members in solving production defects
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines and various pre-production environments
  • Perform incidence management and root cause analysis
  • Coordinate and communicate within the team and with our internal customers
  • Deploy product updates as required while implementing integrations when they arise
  • Serve as a liaison between application development teams and operational infrastructure teams
  • Use APM and other tools to monitor production and troubleshoot systems
  • Create and maintain documentation of services and processes

SQL DBA Duties:

  • Provide overall support for our on-prem and cloud Microsoft SQL services
  • Oversee the performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing
  • Provide support for database-related issues including troubleshooting and resolving performance bottlenecks
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database schemas that support application requirements
  • Ensure database security by implementing and maintaining appropriate access controls and encryption methods
  • Monitor database performance and conduct regular audits to identify and address potential issues
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations processes and procedures
  • Implement automation scripts to streamline database management tasks and improve operational efficiency
  • Conduct regular training sessions for team members on best practices for database management and optimization
  • Participate in the planning and execution of database migrations and upgrades

  • Adhere with the defined development and delivery process/ Change Management, SLA Compliance, productivity, and other application goals
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technology topics to both technical and non-technical audiences

Required education/skills/experience:

  • Information Technology degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with software development or DevOps
  • Exhibit excellent troubleshooting skills for resolving database-related issues
  • Experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines preferred
  • Working knowledge of production and test environments for web applications
  • A background in infrastructure and security
  • Experience with languages such as C#, NodeJS, PowerShell or other languages to script installation, configuration, and provisioning
  • Experience with MS SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experienced working in ecommerce
