Physical Therapist Assistant

Position Summary:
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver quality rehabilitation care in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) setting. The PTA assists in providing therapy treatments to improve mobility, strength, and independence for residents, adhering to personalized treatment plans that promote the highest possible level of physical function.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Physical Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans based on resident assessments and goals.
- Provide hands-on treatment, including exercises, balance activities, gait training, and other interventions as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Monitor and document residents' progress toward achieving therapy goals and communicate any changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Educate residents and their families on exercises and techniques to maintain or improve mobility and strength.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Adhere to all SNF protocols, policies, and procedures, including maintaining compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate residents' care plans and discuss progress or additional needs.
- Assist with the setup, cleaning, and maintenance of therapy equipment and treatment areas to ensure a safe and organized workspace.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, patient safety, and HIPAA compliance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with residents, families, and the healthcare team.
