Let's Talk About It C.M.H.S. Inc. & ACTS II Ministry For Teens Inc. seeks a full-time Clinical Behavioral Specialist for its teen female and male residential homes located in Kalamazoo, MI. The Clinical Behavioral Specialist will be responsible for providing on-site therapeutic care including aftercare to residents throughout the organization and collaborating with youth family members, MDHHS workers, and other community agencies to foster family engagement in programming and treatment as well as empower and equip youth and their families for success beyond foster care.. Under supervision of the Chief Operations Officer, the Clinical Behavioral Specialist provides a multi-modality trauma-informed treatment planning and therapy in conformance with federal, contractual, institutional regulations and state child caring institution licensing provisions. Responsibilities include the overall therapeutic management of the organizations youth teen programs and its operation, facilitating, planning and coordinating of the youth’s clinical, therapeutic, mental, & behavioral health program activities. The Clinical Behavioral Specialist is a critical link to the community for those we serve, as well as serving as a bridge between our state stakeholders, administrative specialists, youth services specialist, case managers, and youth services specialist supervisor to ensure the seamless delivery of high-quality services to the teenage youth we support. The Clinical Behavioral Specialist will insure the delivery of youth supports and services with cognitive, emotional/behavioral, psychological, psychiatric, and developmental disabilities living in LTAI C.M.H.S. Inc. residential homes and those individuals involved with day supports. The Clinical Behavioral Specialist oversees 2 residential homes, OVER 10 residents (including some who've transitioned into Independent Supported Living), and 25 plus employees including staff, managers, therapists and youth services support professionals. In addition, the Clinical Behavioral Specialist will be involved with providing trauma-informed leadership consistent with the vision and mission of LTAI & ACTS II as well as insure compliance with all federal, state, and administrative rules. The Clinical Behavioral Specialist must have a firm understanding of the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, Department of Child Welfare & Licensing rules, as well as state and federal rules that apply to this industry. Duties include daily clinical supervision of the youth, Case Managers, & Youth Services Specialist Supervisor and facilitating staff meetings/trainings where needed. Other responsibilities include developing and implementing policies and procedures. To perform this job successfully, this individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition, the CLINICAL BEHAVIORAL SPECIALIST must be self-directed, able to make independent decisions using the vision and mission of the organization and his or her own experience as a north star. This candidate will be required to take initiative and demonstrate leadership in all ways. Finally, the successful candidate must be willing to support the staff and managers, when necessary, by providing guidance to all parts of the organization. Once a youth is accepted for admission, The Clinical Behavioral Specialist will complete all required therapeutic intake processes and documentation timely including the following: o Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the presence and severity of trauma-related symptoms. o Diagnose mental health conditions accurately and develop appropriate treatment plans. o Schedule/coordinate all therapeutic assessments and/or appointments within the required timeframes.Collaborate with LTAI Administration Team to provide clinical oversight for developing, monitoring, and staffing a therapeutic milieu in the program.Support the youth in the following areas: o Family Team Meetings and TDMs o Weekly Round Table Meetings o Providing individual, group, and family therapy o Providing psychoeducation to youth and their family members (understanding medications, understanding triggers, safety plans, protective factors, the importance of IL skills, hygiene, trauma-informed communication, and community living) related to each youth’s success. o Supporting youth & family during Court hearings -Provide effective crisis management utilizing therapies such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) or other evidence-based therapy modalities. -Provide weekly therapeutic updates to LTAI Administrative Team and Case Managers regarding behaviors, incident reports, academic progress, and therapeutic progress in the program. -Provide Youth Service Specialist staff with education and training to promote effective de-escalation practices and crisis intervention strategies. -Develop and implement individualized treatment plan goals for completion of initial and updated service plans at 30-, 60-, and 90-day intervals that address the unique needs of the youth including emotional regulation, coping skills and relationship building.Assist and support all staff in effectively carrying out therapeutic goals, understanding safety plans, and effective, evidence-based ways to manage behaviors for each youth.Collaborate with LTAI Administrative Team, Case Managers, House Manager, Case Worker, and family/support to make appropriate clinical decisions about activities, groups, and events in which the client should participate.Provide a therapeutic approach, with specific attention and support to family involvement in programming, the youth’s treatment, and to empowering families in decision-making processes involving their child and themselves. When no “traditional” family is available as a resource, work to develop alternative support systems for the youth.Collaborate with the LTAI Administration to plan all aspects of off-site visits, including involved parties, location, transportation arrangements, and length of visit.Track therapeutic treatment and behavior management information, beginning at intake and admission, through treatment, and into aftercare, which becomes part of the statistical data bank of LTAI.At client discharge, helping to coordinate aftercare plans to ensure treatment continuity for the youth’s psychiatric and therapeutic care.Responsible for timely Quality Assurance compliance, including but not limited to service delivery criteria and reporting requirements for each youth served.Provide weekend crises management on an on-call basis (over phone or in person, whichever is most appropriate). -Work in correlation with the LTAI Administrative Team to ensure that the youth (and potential family members) are prepared for the transition from LTAI as per the youth’s permanency plan. -Provide therapeutic aftercare services to discharged youth for up to one calendar year after discharge. -Enforce LTAI policies and rules and follow LTAI’s code of ethics. -Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to stay current in best practices in trauma-informed care and child mental health.Other duties as assigned. Medication Management: Working with case managers ensuring monthly medication reviews are completed; pick up medication refills called in by physicians from the pharmacy and pull medications for the week and weekend shifts.2. Inc. programs. Prior clinical management experience preferred with an emphasis in clinical, behavioral, mental, operational, financial, residential program, and social work experience. Work Environment: This job operates in a teen youth environment but is based in an office. The position will require interaction with teenage youth as needed. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, and hours of work are open and days are generally Monday through Friday. Extended hours may be necessary as needed to assist and/or cover staffing during program hours. Travel: Some travel is expected for this position.
