Job Summary:
CASES seeking Medical Scheduler who is highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team. The Medical Scheduler is responsible for coordinating patient appointments, managing schedules, and ensuring smooth and efficient patient flow. They will work closely with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to provide excellent customer service and maintain a well-organized scheduling system.
Shift Hours: Monday - Thursday 12:00 - 8:00 PM & Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Salary: The salary for this role is $22.00 per hour.
Location Address: 424 East 147th Street, Bronx, NY 10455. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.
Workplace Flexibility: On-site - In Person (staff roles designated as fully in person are eligible for in- person work place differential pay)
What You Will Be Doing:
- Create a safe and welcome environment for clinic clients and family members/collaterals.
- Enroll new clients and update existing client information in the electronic health record (EHR) by obtaining demographic information, ID, copy of health insurance card, checking insurance eligibility and status, confirming address, changes of address, and contact information at each visit.
- Ensure clients are connected to clinical and medical staff as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Perform centralized scheduling for all clinical staff (social workers, clinical supervisors, CASACs, psychiatrists, nurses, and nurse practitioner/physician assistant) ensuring up-to-date staff schedules are entered in the clinic EHR—CareLogic—in advance, cancelled appointments are backfilled and referrals of services are scheduled, in accordance with same day access and urgent care needs.
- Achieve performance goals related to centralized scheduling to support staff productivity.
- Verify eligibility and authorization for Medicaid services using EPACES and Managed Care Organization portals at every client visit.
- Support all crisis intervention and emergency response situations to ensure health and safety and effective responses by internal and external first responders and adherence to crisis/emergency policies.
- Provide trauma-informed, culturally competent services in accordance with CASES policies and procedures.
- Provide administrative support to the front desk as assigned
What We Are Looking For:
- High school diploma with 5 years related work experience
- Knowledge of mental health and medical terminology
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills, including excellent phone demeanor and direct communication skills with clients, family members, government agencies, and agency staff
- Excellent diplomacy, poise, and social skills to interact with clients facing a range of problems including serious mental illness, substance abuse, arrest and incarceration, and crisis and stress
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, family members, referral sources, criminal justice staff, and CASES’ employees
Preferred Skills:
- Previous Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Medicaid billing experience; CareLogic EHR a plus
