We believe that nutrition is a key component of healthy development, and we are seeking a passionate and skilled Cook to join our team to ensure our children receive nutritious and delicious meals.

Position Overview:
The Cook will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving meals that meet USDA nutrition guidelines. This individual will work closely with the childcare staff to create balanced menus that accommodate the dietary needs and preferences of young children, including those with allergies or other restrictions. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to creating a positive dining experience for our children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals and snacks for children in accordance with USDA nutrition guidelines and center policies.
  • Plan weekly menus that are nutritious, age-appropriate, and cater to children's dietary needs.
  • Ensure proper portion control and food presentation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor food inventory, order supplies, and manage food costs effectively.
  • Accommodate special dietary needs, including allergies and cultural preferences.
  • Collaborate with childcare staff to ensure meal times run smoothly.
  • Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and meal counts as required by USDA and licensing standards.
  • TRAINING/ASSISTANCE PROVIDED. USDA knowledge is NOT MADITORY. Willing to train the right candidate

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience as a cook.
  • Knowledge of USDA nutrition guidelines for children a plus, but not mandatory. Willing to train/educate right candidate.
  • Food Handler’s Certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire (at the cost of employer)
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to plan menus that meet diverse dietary needs.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for working with children and contributing to their well-being.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as chopping, stirring, and mixing, lifting, bending.

Benefits:
Paid holidays after 90 day probationary period.
