Job Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for performing hands-on maintenance tasks including the repair, installation, and upkeep of machinery, equipment, and facilities. This role involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, conducting regular inspections, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure optimal functionality. The Maintenance Supervisor will also oversee a team of 4-6 maintenance and cleaning personnel, providing leadership and guidance as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage a maintenance and cleaning crew of 4-6 people.
  • Lead, train, supervise, and conduct annual performance evaluations.
  • Schedule and assign daily work tasks to maintenance/cleaning personnel.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, safety protocols, and maintenance goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, provide feedback, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform hands-on maintenance tasks, including the repair, installation, and upkeep of machinery, equipment, and facilities.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, developing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Prepare reports on maintenance status, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and support operational needs.
  • Utilize various hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment, to complete repair tasks.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, conducting safety training sessions for the team.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety and operational standards.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability for scheduled tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external vendors.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance tools and equipment, including diagnostic devices.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in maintenance.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, delegate when appropriate, and function well in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking during an 8-hour shift.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk and talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
