Position Overview

Redwood Capital Management LLC is seeking a talented and motivated Part-Time Software Engineer to lead our development efforts within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a pivotal member of our small team, you will collaborate closely with two other developers to design, build, and maintain trading engines, APIs, data pipelines, and AWS infrastructure. This role provides a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects that directly influence our trading operations, all while enjoying a flexible part-time schedule.

Salary: $70-180/hr with up to 60% bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Development Efforts: Take the lead in designing, developing, and maintaining trading engines and APIs tailored for our quantitative strategies.
  • High-Speed Messaging Systems: Develop and optimize high-speed messaging systems and APIs for high-frequency data snapshots.
  • Data Pipeline Integration: Set up and manage robust data pipelines to support the quant team’s analytical needs.
  • AWS Infrastructure: Design, implement, and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other developers and the quant team to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Architecture Design: Utilize your architecture experience to create scalable and maintainable software systems.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices to continually improve our systems and processes.

Qualifications

  • Experience Level:
    • Mid-level Software Engineer with 3-5 years of proven experience in relevant technologies.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Programming Languages: Proficiency in C++ (preferred) or Rust, Python, and SQL.
    • Cloud Platforms: Extensive experience with AWS services and infrastructure management.
    • Databases: Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with Snowflake.
    • Development Tools: Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern development workflows.
  • Architectural Skills:
    • Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable, maintainable software architectures.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn and integrate new tools and technologies as required.
    • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
    • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in quantitative finance or high-frequency trading environments.
    • Knowledge of data pipeline architectures and real-time data processing.
