Job DescriptionJob Description

Full-time position with paid breaks. Overtime on weekdays available, not mandatory. We are the premier manufacturer of high-end astronomy equipment for the avid amateur.  Our machinists make hundreds of different parts in small batches – quantities of 50-300, typically.  Quality is our primary driver.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machining centers – mills and lathes – to fabricate high tolerance parts
  • Set up and operate multiple CNC vertical mills, lathes, manual machines, cutoff saw
  • Performs 1st piece and routine inspection to ensure product conformance with various hand inspection tools and CMM
  • Read and write Fanuc G and M code programing
  • Read and interpret blueprints and setup sheets
  • Maintain accurate documentation and record keeping
  • Debur parts as needed and as time allows
  • Maintain clean machines and work area
  • Follow all safety procedures

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Minimum 5 years of CNC setup and operation for precision machining
  • Reliable, positive attitude, attention to detail
  • Strong technical/mechanical aptitude, computer skills, and mathematical ability to calculate trigonometry functions, angles, sine/cosine, etc
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs, reach into machine to load parts, stoop and kneel; job requires standing for long periods
