Job DescriptionJob Description

Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team This position will work with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) at the Frederick Douglass Houses in upper Manhattan. The duration of the project is approximately 27 months. The candidate must have knowledge of RFI tracking, contract document review, forecast and cost scheduling, preparation of change order review, and the review of payments.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 4 years of full-time experience as a Project Engineer in the construction industry
  • A driver's license valid in New York State.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software packages including but not limited to MS Windows; MS Office (including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform contract document review.
  • Process / distribute / review submittals, RFIs, project documents, correspondence.
  • Forecast and cost scheduling tasks.
  • Monitor the project schedule.
  • Draft and track change orders/change notices.
  • Problem resolution
  • Payment application review
  • Attending meetings and writing minutes of project meetings
  • Preparing regular reports and correspondence.
  • Oversee Maintenance of all project logs.
  • Assist with the oversight of the submittals process including receiving and distributing, reviewing submittal packages for completeness, and reviewing designated field review submittals for compliance with the contract documents.
  • Contract close-out.
  • Other duties related to construction site activities as needed.

Skills:

  • Ability to build and strengthen long-lasting client relationships by providing reliable service and project solutions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all management levels. Must have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Because we are a woman-owned firm we are on contracts with larger Construction Management firms such as LiRo, Hill International, Jacobs, Tectonic, Gilbane, etc. and we help them to meet their WBE goals. We provide Project Managers, Inspectors, Estimators, Office Engineers and so on.
