Job Summary:

 

South Suburban PADS is looking for compassionate leaders who want to prevent and end homelessness in the south suburbs of Chicago. The Development Associate will be responsible for supporting the fundraising and communications efforts of South Suburban PADS.

Responsibilities include:

·       Research corporate, foundation, and community-based funding opportunities and requests for proposals (RFPs).

·       Write proposals, letters of interest/inquiry, concept papers, and related materials for grant proposal submissions.

·       Support the Director of Development in planning and coordinating fundraising events, 2 yearly direct mail campaigns, and creating marketing materials (such as social media accounts, website, and print materials).

·       Support on necessary follow-ups on proposals including reporting, award documentation, acknowledgments, thank you letters, and other correspondence.

·       Writes, edits, and collaborates on social media posts, letters, client stories, newsletters, website content, and other materials as needed.

·       Keep up-to-date records of donors, gifts, and contacts in the database.

·       Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

 

·       Education:  A 2-4-year college degree in English, journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field is strongly preferred.

·       Experience: 1-2 years of prior writing experience required.

·       Detail-Oriented:  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.

·       Initiative:  Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

·       Interpersonal Skills:  Effective in relating to a variety of individuals and groups.

·       Communication: Strong ability to convey information in diverse ways for multiple audiences.

·       Technical Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.

·       Database Experience:  Previous experience with databases and data entry is preferred.

·       Additional Skills: Experience with AV equipment, photography, and/or Photoshop is a bonus.
