We are looking for an experienced Senior Machinist for a local company in De Soto, KS. In this role, you will set up and machine metal and plastic parts using a variety of CNC equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong CNC machining experience, be detail-oriented, and possess a passion for delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

Location: De Soto, KS
Job Title: Senior Machinist
Shift: Mon-Thurs 10 hr. days

Pay Range: $62,000-$72,000 annually, based on experience.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are required for this role. Other duties may be assigned as necessary:

• Adhere to all safety protocols and personnel policies.
• Set up and operate CNC mills, with the ability to create fixtures and determine when to use vices (hard jaws, soft jaws, self-centering vices), fixtures, or 3-jaw chucks.
• Perform at least three setups daily to complete shop orders, leveraging extensive machining experience.
• Edit machine programs and program fixtures as needed to fulfill work order requirements.
• Execute various machining tasks including milling, boring (OD/ID), pocketing, profiling, hard machining, keyways, drilling, tapping, and reaming, maintaining tolerances as tight as .0001 when necessary.
• Read and interpret blueprints to accurately manufacture parts according to specifications.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet blueprint standards.
• Use precision inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, depth mics, indicators, and CMM to verify part quality.
• Provide and maintain personal inspection and hand tools.
• Document programs, fixtures, and tooling information for each job on set-up sheets.
• Maintain a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with team members in the work cell and department.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 years of CNC mill experience (Journeyman level preferred).
• Ability to edit programs at the machine and set up fixtures.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to hold tolerances up to .0001 in some cases.
• Must own personal inspection tools and hand tools.

Physical Requirements:
The role involves working in a manufacturing environment and includes the following physical demands:

• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Requires prolonged standing, up to 10 hours per day.
• Involves frequent walking, stooping, bending, twisting at the waist, and reaching both at and above shoulder level.
