Job Description - Machinist

This position requires the ability to be a competent training and prototype specialist, independently and regularly performing one-off work of significant complexity.

Machinist Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Troubleshoot and perform challenging set ups and operation on the Mill-turn, surface grinder, trimmer, lathes, etc.
  • Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings.
  • Proficient using standard measurement equipment micrometers, calipers, comparators, etc.
  • Experience with tight tolerances, intricate features, and thinly walled geometry
  • Ability to manage a project from raw material through to a completed component.
  • Ability to work very closely with engineering, maintenance, and production.
  • Experience optimizing speeds, feeds, and depths of cut using different types, grades, and coatings of cutting tools.
  • Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Ability to plan proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
  • Ability to maintain safe and organized /clean work environment.
  • Must be able to work independently or collaborate with a team.
  • Must be willing to run production or other assigned jobs when there are no machining jobs.
  • Must be able to follow rules and maintain all applicable company policies.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lb of materials without problems.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for a minimum of 8 hours without problem.
  • Must be able to squat or bend as needed without problems.

Candidate must have:

  • Excellent coordination and mechanical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
  • Team work spirit
  • Five years of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Five years or more experience working with manual equipment lathes, mills, grinders, saws etc.
  • Five years or more working in a prototype shop environment – a plus.
