Job Description:

Westbury Friends School is growing Join our humble team of 9 full time teachers and 3 part time teachers/assistants, with over 50 students. We are currently looking for a Bilingual English & Spanish Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year with a number of 10 students as of now.

 

Qualifications:

 

• Fluency in English & Spanish

• Holds a minimum of a bachelor’ s degree in Elementary Education or related field

• 3 years minimum of teaching experience

• Experience working with young children and readiness to lead group activities independently in English & Spanish

• Attention to the role of diversity and identity in a community, and a recognition of one’s own biases and how they may impact one’s perspectives and actions

• Strong communication skills

• Establishing a strong rapport with students and families

Responsibilities

• Creating a classroom environment built with love, respect and positive rapport

• Effectively manages student behavior through implementation of classroom rules and clear expectations with the school’s positive behavioral system

• Collaborating with the Head of School & Teachers on all aspects of classroom instruction and student support for community engagement

• Assisting, planning and teaching lessons in all curriculum areas including Morning Meetings in English & Spanish with the Spanish Team

• Learning the grade level curriculum, instructional frameworks and best practices in teaching, and how to implement them independently

• Assisting with classroom routines and tasks such as record keeping, attendance, dismissal planning, materials preparation, and data collection

• Additional duties related to the safe operation of a Lower School (i.e., arrival, lunch, dismissal)

• Participating in parent communication, including Back to School Night, report card writing, and Parent/Guardian conferences, and occasional weekend fundraising and community building events

• Attending Mandatory after school meetings and professional development sessions

 

Benefits

• Salary and benefits are modest, and will be offered commensurate with experience and credentials

• The salary range for this position is $60-64K
