Looking for a trained pastry chef or experienced baker for our upscale dinner and breakfast programs at The Millbrook Inn. Two days a week; ideally Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but somewhat flexible in hours and days as per your schedule, but needs to be mornings if it isn’t those two days.
If looking for more than 16 hours, can also add two shifts preparing beautiful hand-crafted breakfasts for our 18 inn guests on Saturday and Sunday mornings: pancakes, waffles, or yogurt bowls with hand-made fruit compotes and interesting and unique granola flavors, healthy hand-pressed juices. This is not a short-order situation: two carefully crafted options are offered to our guests, who dine between 8-9:30 AM. This would increase your total hours up to 32-35 hours.
Looking for someone who can bake beautiful and tasteful desserts for an award-winning property; and who can work with the owner and chef in creating seasonal desserts and baked goods that satisfy the brand and the guests.
Need to be adept in:
biscuits and scones; quickbreads, yeasted doughs; short pastry for pies and tarts; fillings like compotes, curds, ganaches, frozen desserts, cakes and cheesecakes, assorted cookies. Non-sweets you may also have to cover, depending on the season: fruit chutneys and pasta dough as well.
If including breakfast shifts, need to be able to have knowledge in commercial gas ranges; griddles, and be able to execute interesting pancakes, yeasted waffles, simple egg dishes, etc.
This is a great option for a trained pastry chef who can’t or doesn’t want the demands of a full-time position; someone who has retired but still wants to work part-time; or a very talented self-taught baker who wants to flex their skills and have their creations seen on a professional level.
Must be authorized to work in the US, and reliably commute on their own to work with a car. This is not a location easily accessible by bus.
