Industrial Pipefitter

Responsibilities:

• Perform underground, water, sanitary, and waste pipe installations.
• Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures according to plumbing codes.
• Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipes to required angles using appropriate tools.
• Study building plans and inspect structures to determine material and equipment needs.
• Locate and mark the positions for pipe installations, connections, hangers, and fixtures.
• Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect leaks.
• Assemble pipe sections using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering
• Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, and appliances such as dishwashers, water heaters, sinks, and toilets.
• Engage in pipe cutting, pre-assembly, and installation of plumbing systems.
• Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings.
• Review blueprints, building codes, or specifications to determine the correct work procedure.
• Install underground storm, sanitary, or water piping systems, extending piping as necessary.
• Maintain or repair plumbing by replacing defective washers, mending broken pipes, or opening clogged drains.
• Anchor steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 4 years of industrial construction experience.
• Experience working with PVC, copper, and cast iron.
• Proficiency in installing fixtures, hangers, and pipe.
• Ability to use basic hand tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and building codes.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and climb ladders and steps.
• Experience with pipe threading machines and pipe bending machines. Proven experience as a pipefitter or similar role in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Knowledge of pipefitting techniques and methods, including cutting, threading, and welding pipes.
• Familiarity with different types of piping materials such as steel, copper, and PVC.
• Reliable Transportation.

Pay:$25 to $32 per hour, DOE

Pay Transparency: A reasonable estimate of the available hourly pay scale for this position is $25 to $32 per hour, DOE. The actual compensation offered may vary depending on qualifications and other factors essential to the performance of duties and is determined by the hiring authority.
