Job DescriptionJob Description

The Technical Designer will work with both the design and production teams in design and execution of CNC projects. The Technical Designer will also assist with preparation of build ready assembly drawings for use by shop carpenters.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Operation and maintenance of CNC machine and supporting equipment.
  • Prepare drawings as required for design development, engineering, and technical review for in-house and outsourced fabrication.
  • Create CAD & CAM files from approved design drawing sets.
  • Prepare assembly documentation and instructions for production.
  • Maintain electronic file organization between design and build departments.
  • Ongoing communication with shop teams to ensure accuracy in project assembly.
  • Communicate with team across Google Suite and Asana (training provided) platforms
  • Work with a multi-faceted team in a diverse and fast paced environment to successfully execute on multiple simultaneous projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years’ industry related experience with design build, architectural, furniture design or custom fabrication
  • Comprehensive understanding of architectural and technical shop drawings.
  • Strong working knowledge of 3 axis CNC production
  • Prior experience in CNC machine operation and CAM programming.
  • Strong working knowledge of solid wood fabrication (Milling material, material yield, construction methods and applications)
  • Strong working knowledge of cabinet and interior fixture assemblies (Sheet goods, material yield, standard assemble, custom assemble, hardware specifications, installation methods)
  • Familiar with precision measuring and marking tools to ensure production accuracy
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize jobs and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to use reasoning and logic to identify alternative solutions or to adapt and apply past solutions to solve new problems
  • This position is on site - remote work is not possible

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Versatility in contemporary CAD programs, including but not limited Auto CAD, Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor
  • Prior experience with cabinet building software a plus (Woodwork for Inventor, Mozaik, Aspire, Fusion 360 or similar)
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, architecture, interior architecture or equivalent work experience
