GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The General Accountant performs routine accounting activities such as data entry, maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports. Reviews, codes, and verifies transactions including billings, invoices, checks, and journal entries. Assists in completing moderately complex calculations using spreadsheets and other software tools. Reconciles accounts and bank statements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

In order of importance – Include frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, etc.)

  • Record ACH receipts, make check runs and initiate wire transfers as needed
  • Manage credit card accounts; set-up/cancel, limits, fraud support, monthly reconcilement
  • Manage Avalara integration
  • Sales tax reconciliation, manage S/T reports, exemption certificate management
  • Complete payroll journal entries
  • Review and approve expense reports
  • Reconcile monthly bank accounts, follow up on outstanding checks, monthly RJEs & Jes
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Handle office manager duties; order and renew license plates
  • All other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • # of Direct Reports = 0
  • # of Indirect Reports = 0

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • High school education required.
  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance plus 1-2 years accountant experience or Associates degree with 2-4 years accountant experience or combination of education and experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Basic knowledge of accounting theory
  • Effective at handling multiple complex projects.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Effective customer and co-worker communication, both orally and in writing
  • Detail oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage time
  • Possess the ability to manage and research assignments independently
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
