Job purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide clinical oversight for clients as well as support, guidance and training for Behavior Therapists. The Behavior Consultant works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to ensure effective implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions by collaborating on assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing guidance to behavior therapists. The primary objective is to prepare children for school and enhance the quality of their lives through ABA. The Behavior Consultant plays a pivotal role in cultivating a culture that aligns with Dream Big’s core values and fostering a supportive and empowering work environment.
Duties and responsibilities
Provide strong leadership and guidance at the center, serving as a mentor and role model for the Behavior Therapists (BTs) and fostering a positive team culture.
Conduct functional behavior assessments under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Develop individualized treatment plans that prioritize naturalistic ABA principles under the guidance of a BCBA.
Provide guidance to behavior therapists in implementing treatment plans through coaching, modeling, and reinforcement strategies.
Mentor and support the professional growth of behavior therapists to ensure effective implementation of ABA.
Hold behavior therapists accountable to ethical codes, ensure adherence to behavior plans, complete job duties, and demonstrate core values.
Assist with training new hires when necessary.
Collaborate with parents and families to incorporate ABA strategies into their daily routines.
Establish a therapeutic alliance with parents, families, and individuals receiving services.
Analyze data and regularly monitor progress, presenting findings and discussing the child's development with the BCBA.
Prepare progress reports as required by funding sources.
Conduct regular meetings with the behavior analyst to review client progress and therapist performance.
Conduct circle time and lead group activities at the center as needed.
Provide support to behavior therapists, center staff, and center manager as necessary.
Demonstrate, model, and promote the core values of the organization.
Attend and actively participate in scheduled ongoing training and meetings.
Accurately log all hours worked, obtain authorized guardians' signatures, and submit timesheets on time.
Ensure all clients have a goal to work on cleaning up throughout the day.
“See something, say something”- promote teamwork and cleanliness from all, assisting to hold staff accountable for cleaning up items/areas after their clients.
Assist with cleaning up items/activities throughout the center when present on the floor.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in psychology or related field from an accredited institution
Enrolled in a graduate program recognized by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board or is certified as a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst.
At least two years of experience in providing Applied Behavior Analysis services to children with autism
Complete TB test and livescan clearance
Bachelor degree in related field required
Master degree strongly preferred
Working conditions
This position requires working at the Dream Big center 4 days per week and remote 1 day per week (as scheduled on a monthly basis). Working at the center requires the ability to focus in a noisy and busy environment. Must be available to attend training one Saturday (half-day) per quarter and one training session on a Saturday or Sunday (half-day) per quarter.
Physical requirements
Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 10 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, running, squatting, bending over, kneeling and sitting on the floor.
