We are looking for a Line Cook to join the Fiddler’s Family and share their passion for hospitality with our members, guests, and fellow staff members. Our exceptional culinary team is led by Executive Chef/Director of Food and Beverage, Michael Weisshaupt. Members and guests can enjoy a variety of dining options featuring menus crafted by our esteemed chefs. We offer an extensive selection, including fine dining, a more casual bar and grill, event catering for gatherings of any size, and delightful offerings from our aquatics center.
Line Cooks are responsible for the preparation and culinary execution in our a la carte dining venues and banquet facilities, working closely with the Sous Chefs and Chef di Cuisine in each outlet.
Essential functions of a Line Cook include:
- Maintain a positive work environment through effective communication and creating a warm and engaging atmosphere for all.
- Prepare food in accordance with club recipes, including preparation soups, seafood, meats, sauces etc.
- Examine and sanitize food preparation areas, including equipment, work surfaces, and serving spaces, to guarantee that safe and hygienic food handling practices are upheld.
- Regulate the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters to ensure food is stored and cooked at the appropriate temperatures.
- Store all food properly, ensuring it is covered, dated, and rotated daily to maintain portion control and quality.
- Observe and test foods to confirm they are cooked adequately, using techniques like tasting, smelling, or piercing with utensils.
- Bake, roast, broil, and steam various foods, including meats, fish, and vegetables.
- Prepare fruits and vegetables for consumption by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding them.
- Uphold a professional appearance and adhere to cleanliness standards.
- Pay special attention to member names, requests, and allergies.
- Be diligent about allergies and dietary restrictions.
- Assist in the development of daily specials and menus.
- Use a golf cart to transport food items.
- Follow safety rules and regulations while operating the golf cart.
- Inform the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef of any food or equipment shortages.
- Help prepare food for all staff members.
- Arrive at work punctually.
- Conduct additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Successful candidates will have strengths in time management, active listening, teamwork, and critical thinking. Their work styles should include strong attention to detail, adaptability, stress tolerance, independence, and cooperation.
Required Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Culinary Arts degree or two years of related experience preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a reliable form of transportation
- Must be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to communicate and understand the predominant language of our members and guests
- Must be able to work well with others and handle multiple tasks at once
Physical Requirements:
- Occasionally lift objects weighing 50+ pounds, frequently lift objects weighing 15-20 pounds
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, climb, squat, and wipe to perform essential job functions
- Ability to use both arms and hands
- Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments where weather may bring heat, cold, rain, snow etc.
Safety Hazards:
- Conditions in the kitchen are sometimes hot, cold and humid
- Handling of sharp objects and utensils in the course of work
- Outdoor weather conditions may include extreme heat and/or humidity, rain, storms, snow and other conditions
