Metrics LLC is seeking a skilled and experienced Business Architect to lead our efforts as we compete for a contract to support the Department of Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy (VAAA) Informatics and Program/Project Support (IPPS). This role plays a pivotal part in enabling the Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy (VAAA) to enhance its operational efficiency, strategic alignment, and data-driven decision-making. The successful candidate will bring expertise in structuring enterprise governance, business processes, and information systems, aligning them with strategic goals to achieve measurable outcomes.

This position requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in business architecture, a*bachelor’s degree (in Business, Computer Science, or a related field), and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to achieve the VA's mission. Professional certifications, such as PMP or IT-related credentials, are highly desirable. Join us in driving innovation and excellence in service of our nation's veterans.

Work will be performed primarily at the VAAA facility in Frederick, MD.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive business architecture strategy based on organizational scenarios and goals.
  • Align the VAAA’s strategic objectives with decisions regarding products, services, partners, and operational capabilities.
  • Define and document key business processes that traverse organizational boundaries, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.
  • Capture and analyze tactical and strategic enterprise goals to map them to performance metrics for ongoing governance.
  • Identify and document external entities (customers, suppliers, systems) interacting with the business and their associated processes.
  • Establish relationships between roles, capabilities, business units, and external entities, ensuring clear governance structures.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the VA’s Single Source of Truth (SST) solution, enabling standardized data collection, management, and reporting.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, requirements planning, and risk management to address enterprise challenges and identify viable solutions.
  • Collaborate with program managers and project teams to develop integrated plans, including human resources, communications, and quality management plans.
  • Provide training materials and facilitate workshops to enhance understanding of strategic planning processes, data management tools, and operational best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in business architecture, enterprise governance, or a related field.
  • Proven expertise in developing and implementing business architecture strategies for large organizations.
  • Familiarity with data systems and tools such as Tableau, MS SQL Server, and SharePoint.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and improve business processes and data integrity.
  • Experience with project planning, risk management, and strategic planning processes.
  • Ability to align enterprise goals with actionable performance metrics and governance structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field, such as Business Administration or Information Technology.
  • Professional certifications, such as PMP, ITIL, or a business architecture certification.
  • Experience working in federal government programs or large-scale organizational transformations.
  • Familiarity with the Department of Veterans Affairs’ mission and operational frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools like Tableau.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Knowledge of federal acquisition processes and policies.
