JOB TITLE: CNC Machinist
REPORTS TO: Production Manager
SHIFT: 2nd (3pm-11pm) or 3rd (11pm - 7am)
PAY TYPE: Hourly, Range (dependent on experience)
SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, setup computer-controlled machines to perform one or more functions on metal work pieces satisfactorily to meet production goals; maintain quality and safety standards; record keeping; maintaining equipment and supplies
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
· Ability to read blueprints and part drawings, understand how to read GD&T.
· How to read and understand CNC programs and make minimal edits
· Knowledgeable with CNC setup and adjustments in Vertical, Horizontal and Mill turn CNC Machines.
· Leads the operation of the production floor during a set shift.
· Understands how to read Job Planning Paperwork and enter data into software
· Coordinates with QC to ensure all relevant inspection tools are available for each job.
· Adheres to AS9100 quality practices and ensures all finished goods, WIP, scrap and raw material is identified and labeled correctly.
· Responsible for communicating with previous and following shifts.
· Experience with training operators on standard machine practices
· Confers with engineers to prevent and resolve machining and or assembly problems.
· Knowledge of properties of metal and other materials
· Advanced mathematic skills
· Effective leadership and management skills
· If necessary informs purchasing of out of stock or low inventory of tooling.
· When possible diagnose machining problems.
· Maintain a consistent volume of output with minimal non-conformances.
· Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
· Properly completes production and quality documents; utilizes and understands production software to communicate actions and irregularities.
· Understands and uses gages and measuring instruments to satisfy tolerance requirements for production quality control.
· Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
· Performs daily and regular cleaning maintenance of CNC machinery and maintains an organized and clean work area.
· Handle minor machine repair.
· Exhibits a positive attitude and desire to learn when required to improve his/her skills.
· Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum high school diploma or GED.
· Minimum of 5 years as a CNC Machinist
· The individual must have a solid understanding of metal machining concepts
· The individual must possess a high level of attention to detail.
· Must be knowledgeable of material types and calibration gages.
· Can read and interpret blueprints.
· Language: Ability to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbal and written in the English language.
· Mathematical & Reasoning: Ability to perform mathematical computations; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to identify problems and draw valid conclusions.
· Physical Demands: Ability to lift approximately 50lbs when required. Ability to physically complete shifts requiring the employee to stand, walk and reach with arms and hands. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and to adjust focus.
