Job DescriptionJob Description

We seek a Cook to join the Latha Restaurant & Bar team You will work with Chef Digby Stridiron to offer customers an exceptional experience that celebrates the foodways of Africa and the African diaspora. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment that is dedicated to delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentations standards, and food checklist
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients
  • Present, garnish and arrange final dishes in proper portions onto proper serving dishes
  • Set up and breakdown work stations with the required ingredients and equipment
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, and fryers
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards
  • Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food
  • Work with management to create a memorable experience for guests

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in culinary arts, cooking, or other related fields
  • Passion for food and cooking techniques
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
