Kennel Technician

Maranda Ranch Kennels is seeking a hardworking and detail-oriented kennel technician to work alongside the kennel managers in accomplishing all the tasks related to running a pet boarding facility.

Maranda Ranch Kennels is a homey ranch in the Bay Area that boards upwards of 40 dogs and cats year round. Nestled among the vineyards of Sonoma, the ranch was first established in the early 1970s and has been owned and operated by the Byerley family since 1998. Maranda Ranch is located 10 min outside of the town of Sonoma.

Compensation:

• $17-22/hr rate - Rate is dependent on knowledge and experience.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

Maranda Ranch is seeking a mature, enthusiastic individual, who has a strong command of dog behavior and is able to accomplish other duties that caring for animals require.

• The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, punctual, enthusiastic, and reliable.
• Monitor groups of dogs in play yards
• Interact and play with boarding dogs and cats
• Light ground keeping (weeding, raking leaves, etc)
• Maintain a clean and safe kennel environment (disinfecting, washing dishes, laundry, etc)

Qualifications and Skills:

• Dog handling experience required (this excludes personal dogs).
• Comfortable with animals, especially dogs
• Able to work independently and time manage
• Able to follow instructions and protocols
• Room to grow and willing to learn more about handling dogs
• Must be available to work on or around major and minor holiday seasons
• Dependable, punctual, hard working
• Work is performed mostly in an indoor kennel setting, but also in outdoor uneven terrain. Must be comfortable working in different weather conditions.
• Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, walking, and standing on feet for 8-10 hours per day while performing job duties.

Hours:

10hr shifts - Day only

Must be available to work around major and minor holiday seasons
