Primary Type of Work Performed and Nature of Position:


Specialty Systems is a specialty contractor specializing in providing and installing architectural metal and composite building products for commercial property. Such products include: Standing Seam Roof Systems, Mansards, Fascia, Wall Panel Systems, Nichiha and other associated exterior products.


The ideal candidate for this position must have a valid license in good standing and shall be required to maintain throughout employment a good and safe driving record. Knowledge or experience in the construction industry beneficial. Previous experience including towing up to a 20-ft. trailer and knowledge of the metro area is a plus. Due to the nature of Specialty Systems business conditions and vicinity of job site locations, the candidate’s hours and workday necessitate some flexibility with required overtime. As a shop fabricator one must follow direction, interpret fabrication drawings, measure and fabricate materials to correct dimensions and work well with others. This position is responsible for providing a variety of diverse activities depending on the fabrication and field support needs of each project. This candidate must be reliable, responsible and posses good working and customer skills. This position reports to the shop foreman and is classified as regular full-time.


Driver Qualifications and Compliance Requirements

Because this position requires the use of vehicles and trailers with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds, this position is required to meet the regulations and licensing requirements in accordance with Minnesota Statue and the Department of Transportation. This includes a DOT physical, drug testing, annual motor vehicle reports and prior employment reference checks. All incidents or accidents require mandatory drug testing within a 24 hour period.


General Responsibilities Include

  • Maintain daily vehicle inspection reports and service records.
  • Unload and load all materials and equipment for projects
  • Prepare and secure loads for transporting
  • Deliver and unload materials to various local job sites
  • Pickup materials from vendors and suppliers
  • Project equipment recovery and job site clean up
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery of scaffolding and process paperwork
  • Responsible for maintaining and servicing vehicles
  • Assist with equipment repairs and organization
  • Assist shop as needed with fabrication orders and general duties.
  • Assist field superintendent with special assignments and errands.
  • Assist with equipment repairs and organization
  • Must be able to read a tape measure

Some overhead lifting required

Equipment Requirements:

This position requires but is not limited to the following equipment:

  • Mechanical Shear & Press Brakes (RAS Turbo-bend or Roper Whitney)
  • Forklift Operation
  • Mechanical Panel Formers and Seam Former
  • Table-saw and Drill Press
  • Various Sheet Metal Hand and Power Tools
  • Use of company vehicles for company errands and deliveries to job sites. Proof of valid driver’s license required.
