Job Overview
Here at Strough and Associates we are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Preparer to join our team for tax season. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of technical accounting and financial concepts, along with excellent client relation skills. As a Tax Preparer, you will be responsible for assisting clients in preparing their tax returns accurately and efficiently while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. We are a flexible company that is willing to offer very flexible hours for the right candidate. We like to ensure you have a good balance between your personal life and work schedule. Compensation is between $27-$32 an hour, based upon experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Analyze financial information to determine tax liability and deductions.
- Utilize Drake Accounting software and become efficient with data input.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns regarding their tax situations.
- Stay updated on current tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary documentation for tax preparation.
- Review prior year tax returns for accuracy and identify potential areas for improvement.
- Assist in educating clients on financial concepts related to their taxes.
Qualifications
- Strong technical accounting skills with a solid understanding of financial concepts.
- Proficiency in math and analytical skills to accurately assess tax situations.
- Experience in public accounting is preferred.
- Familiarity with Drake Tax software or similar accounting software is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills.
- EA or CPA preferred.
