Mayar’s Meat Market has just opened and we are looking to hire skilled butchers. We are a cut and package type of butcher shop. We have carcasses of various types of meat that will need to be cut down into to sellable cuts. We are only looking for experienced butchers at the moment. Below are some of the requirements for the position.
The Butcher is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the meat department, including cutting, packaging, and displaying various cuts of meat, ensuring high-quality customer service, and maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Meat Cutting & Preparation:
• Skillfully cut, trim, debone, and prepare various cuts of meat (beef, goat, poultry, lamb, etc.).
• Ensure that all cuts of meat meet quality standards, including portion size, texture, and presentation.
• Advise customers on the best cuts of meat for their needs and provide cooking tips.
• Develop and maintain a positive work environment, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
• Create staff schedules to ensure coverage during peak times.
Inventory & Stock Management:
• Monitor inventory levels, order products as needed, and ensure that stock is rotated properly.
• Minimize waste by managing yields and processing cuts efficiently.
Health & Safety Compliance:
• Maintain strict adherence to health and food safety regulations, including proper storage, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
• Conduct regular inspections of the butcher shop’s equipment and tools to ensure they are in safe working condition.
Customer Service:
• Provide excellent customer service by helping clients select the right products, answering questions, and processing special orders.
• Address customer complaints or issues in a professional manner, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Sales & Merchandising:
• Ensure that the meat counter is well-stocked and visually appealing to customers.
• Assist in the pricing and promotion of meats, taking into consideration market trends and profitability.
• Track and analyze sales data to optimize product offerings and pricing strategies..
Qualifications & Skills:
• Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in butchery.
• Certification: Food safety certification will be required. We can help obtain this after hiring process.
• Expert-level knowledge of meat-cutting techniques and different cuts of meat.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
• Proficiency with inventory management and point-of-sale systems.
• Excellent customer service skills.
