QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of work experience in sewing handbags, small leather goods or related.
- Ability to read and understand a design card / technical drawing.
- High attention to detail and craftsmanship - maintaining clean stitching, consistent margins & SPI on all constructions.
- Must be willing to assist with other functions as needed.
- Eager to learn and expand skills and quality of work.
- Works well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Must have a positive attitude and work well with others along with professionalism in attitude, appearance and approach.
- Flexibility to work occasional evening/weekend hours, based on the needs of the business.
- Ability to adhere to deadlines and adjust priorities as necessary.
- Working English as needed to fulfill job requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately make professional handbag leather goods prototypes and samples.
- Study design cards and communicate any questions/issues to Director or Office Manager
- Work closely with Pattern/Sample makers and Floor Manager to align with company standards and complete projects.
- Prep work including but not limited to cutting, gluing, and skiving.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workspace throughout and at the end of each day.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Understanding of handbag construction
- Ability to read and interpret design cards and specifications.
- Bilingual: English, Spanish
JOB TYPE: Full time – In person
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday (Able to work on weekends as needed)
