Who we are:

Coastal Mechanics is an Aerospace and Defense contractor engaged in several activity areas, including being a manufacturer of high-precision Aviation and Military custom components, and provider of aerospace and defense logistics management services such as supply chain services, MRO services and repair management. We are currently seeking a highly organized Engineering Project Manager who is willing and ready to be a hard-working team player in a rapidly growing company.

The person we are looking for:

A candidate with Engineering Project Manager experience to coordinate and manage engineering and technical development projects. Will oversee and execute routine as well as sophisticated manufacturing projects, ensuring timely completion. Develops and supports vendor communication and partnerships. Leads production order meetings and supporting presentations, reports, and electronic resource systems in order to manage production schedules. To be successful in this role, the candidate must be a leader, confident in making self-directed decisions, highly organized and an excellent communicator.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with team members such as account managers, estimators and buyers to create both tactical and strategic planning in order to execute orders and awards.
  • Conducts cost estimates of materials, time, labor and other resources required.
  • Manage and be able to oversee/report individual project and order P&Ls.
  • Facilitates and contributes to the development of project plans and design where necessary.
  • Organize and prepare bid packages for project execution to vendors, and perform down selection of prospective vendors based on disciplines, quality and capabilities
  • Perform relevant subcontractor management where necessary and oversee vendor performance/feedback to management where relevant.
  • Recommends and or analyzes materials, equipment, and practices used in the project to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Prepares periodic progress reports to leadership team.
  • Ensures compliance with codes, guidelines, best practices, and policies.
  • Provides engineering guidance, interpretations, and recommendations.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to take the initiative
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter, motivated to exhibit performance at a high level
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret and understand mechanical and structural engineering documentation, manufacturing drawings and work procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate with all stakeholders (customers, vendors, other counterparties)
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years in project management, engineering, or other related fields.
  • Specific Aerospace & Defense Sector experience is a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times.
