Bodywork Technician

PURPOSE: To supervise the production and maintenance of IMSA bodywork components, ensuring precision, quality, and compliance with technical specifications to enhance the team's competitive edge in IMSA racing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with bodywork manager to structure work list, ensuring prompt arrival of parts.
• Assess condition of bodywork post event and determine what needs addressed.
• Working under bodywork manager, build work list of items that need to be repaired.
• Document post event issues with car.
• Determine what can be repaired in house and what needs to be sent out.
• Perform needed carbon repairs on body work.
• Work with Parts Manager to book parts to repair facility.
• Proper assembly of all components to RLL specifications.
• Detailed records of nose and tail assemblies
• Weigh all individual pieces as assemblies are built and keep track on build sheet.
• Track shims needed to properly align each nose and tail.
• Ensure all components used in assemblies are the latest or correct specification.
• Ensure all lighting is correctly fitted and functional.
• Organization of IMSA bodywork area.
• Inventory of usable parts and assemblies
• Isolate all obsolete parts to transfer to storage.
• Address all TSI and TI for the bodywork lighting.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

Required:

• An eye for detail and pride in making things by hand.
• 2+ year carbon/ composite repair experience.
• Vocational/Trade School in composite repair, or a combination of education and experience.
• Proficient using all shop/mechanic tools including:
• Vacuum bagging, heat lamps, grinders
• Measuring tools (Vernier calipers and micrometers)

Preferred:

• Knowledge of NDT testing (Magnaflux and Zyglo) a plus
• Knowledge of IMSA rules and specifications a plus
