Litigation Trial Paralegal

Location: Glendale, CA - in office

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Litigation Paralegal to support our trial team. You will work closely with our trial attorneys from the beginning of a case through the end. Candidates must have extensive experience with medical record review, trial preparation, handling discovery (including issuing and responding to subpoenas), drafting legal documents, and managing case paperwork. You also need to have excellent research skills, be able to multi-task several assignments under tight deadlines, and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Westlaw.

Paralegal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and initial case assessments;
  • Monitor changes to laws, guidelines, regulations and trial court rules;
  • Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests and responses;
  • Prepare documents to be shared with expert witnesses and maintain documents produced by experts;
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices;
  • Assist with deposition preparation, preparing relevant documents to be reviewed by the handling attorney in advance to deposition and exhibits to be used at deposition;
  • Prepare trial documents including but not limited to, exhibit lists (and relevant exhibits), witness lists, jury instructions; statement of the case; and trial subpoenas for personal appearance at trial.
  • Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc.);
  • Correspond with clients, opposing counsel, experts, witnesses and the Court.
  • Responsible for indexing and maintaining a witness and expert witness list for trial.

Paralegal Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Westlaw
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Trial Experience Preferred
  • Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or paralegal certificate preferred but not required, based on experience.
