Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:
  • Evaluate levels of swallowing, speech and language difficulty
  • Identify treatment options
  • Create and carry out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs
  • Teach patients how to make sounds while improving their voices and maintaining fluency
  • Help individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language
  • Work with adults and children in developing and strengthening muscles used to swallow
  • Counsel individuals and families on ways to cope with swallowing and communication disorders
  • Continuing education (RHSC is an ASHA approved CEU provider)
  • Multidisciplinary staff (SLP’s, Audiologists, OT, PT, Special Educators, and Psychologist)
  • Supportive supervision


Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology awarded by ASHA (strong CF candidates will be considered)
  • NYS license to practice Speech-Language Pathology (or CF)
  • Certified Teacher of the Speech and Language Disabled or Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped.
  • Candidates must have a valid NYS driver’s license, automobile, and active auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extensive standing and walking.
  • Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
  • Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
