Job Summary
The primary objective of the Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity, and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts, material, and equipment access. This will be accomplished by providing the employees with detailed job plans, including technical specifications, machine history, parts, tools lists, and safety procedures in an organized fashion. Maintenance Planners are critical in helping to ensure, or extend the life expectancy of equipment, and therefore aiding in the total reduction of maintenance costs and increased throughput of equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reduce cost of maintenance operations while improving responsiveness, minimizing downtime and interruptions to overall operations, applying technical and maintenance experience to analyze overall job scopes
- Plan, and schedule corrective, and preventative maintenance activities by task and priority level to the maintenance teams (weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Annually, etc.)
- Own asset classification and management of adding new equipment assets as needed with new equipment installations
- Participate in overhaul planning activities for scheduling, coordination, and execution
- Create and maintain history of each piece of equipment that is maintained for Production department and all other equipmentwithin plant
- Makes Capital Improvement Purchases for management. When/if needed, sends new vendor packets to new businesses so A/P can create new vendor numbers to facilitate payment options and schedules incoming equipment delivery with outside services to help off-loading and equipment entry into plant.
- Assist Maintenance mechanics, leads, supervisors, and manager in identifying parts, equipment, and services needed to repair and maintain equipment and facilities.
- Provide leadership in assuring all requirements of the routine maintenance work process are utilized consistently and effectively to continuously improve the process and ensure goals are met.
- Interface daily with maintenance department personnel to review work orders for maintenance services. Review and provide input on definition, accuracy, and priority.
- Check the validity of the work orders and gather all pertinent information.
- Track area planning backlog & work order progress ensuring data is current & accurate.
- Partner closely with internal customers to understand and deliver innovative solutions.
- Ability to understand and interpret manuals to ascertain type and specification of parts.
- Document control of all equipment records, drawings, and manuals.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records.
- Coordinate and assist in all maintenance internal and external audits.
- Follow standards, best practices, and participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining the systems and procedures that support SQF.
- Equipment calibration and proper disposal of recycled and waste items as needed.
- Ensures the availability of materials and tools necessary to complete planned tasks. And procures them as needed by issuing Purchase Orders to qualified vendors.
- Plans and schedules identified work, including ordering of parts and ensures competitive pricing on parts. Makes purchases of items for other departments within the company. Uses Visa card and captures, records, and reconciles those purchases with corresponding Purchase Orders with A/P at month end.
- Generates and maintains other various reports that monitor Key Performance Indicators within the Maintenance team.
- Analyzes historical data to recommend actions to mitigate reoccurring issues.
- Be responsible for performing any other task, duty, or assignment that may be deemed necessary.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years' experience in a Manufacturing, Maintenance, & Engineering environment required.
- Experience as a Maintenance Planner preferred, including the effective planning and coordination of maintenance activities, considering production schedule and other standard activities related to maintenance planning (budget, safety permits, coordination with other operational areas, tracking of maintenance KPI's, etc).
- Preferably exposure to TPM, maintenance planning techniques and maintenance execution.
- Participation in the coordination and planning of maintenance activities, taking into account SHE, food safety and other constraints in order to optimize the coordination of all maintenance activities.
- Experience with CMMS system (SAP, Maximo, MP2, MLS, etc.)
- High level of computer expertise and competence.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding of mechanical processes, equipment, and electrical systems.
- Must have continuous improvement mindset.
- Familiar with other Maintenance Improvement methodologies

Physical Requirements
- Lifting and Carrying: Must be able to lift 25 pounds to 50 pounds.
- Standing, Walking and Climbing Stairs: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and able to climb stairs to reach work locations as needed.
- Repetitive Movements and Manual Dexterity: Some tasks involve repetitive motions (i.e. typing). Must be able to perform these repetitive movements without experiencing strain or discomfort.
- Balance and Coordination: Jobs may require working on elevated platforms, ladders, or scaffolding may necessitate good balance and coordination skills to prevent accidents.
- Vision and Hearing: Good vision and hearing are essential for identifying defects, reading instructions, and maintaining situational awareness in a manufacturing environment.
- Bending and Stooping: Manufacturing settings may require employees to bend, stoop, or crouch in order to access equipment or perform certain tasks. Flexibility and the ability to bend safely are important.
- Respiratory Health: In environments with potential exposure to dust, chemicals, or fumes, respiratory health may be a concern. Some jobs may require the use of respiratory protection equipment, so employees must be physically capable of wearing and using such equipment.

Work Environment
Temperature Control: Our facility maintains strict temperature controls to ensure food safety and product quality. While much of your work will occur in a temperature-controlled environment, you may occasionally be required to work in cold or hot rooms as part of the production process.
Noise Level: The production floor can be loud due to the operation of industrial machinery and the movement of forklifts. Hearing protection is required and will be provided to ensure your comfort and safety.
Industrial Machinery: You will work alongside a variety of industrial machines designed for food processing and packaging. Proper training and safety measures will be in place to ensure your safety while operating or working near these machines.
Allergen/Chemical Exposure: You may work or be exposed to food products that contain allergens such as peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, milk, eggs, etc. Cross-contact and exposure to allergens can occur during various stages of production. Additionally, in the course of your duties, you may handle or encounter cleaning agents, sanitizers, food additives, and other chemicals used in our manufacturing processes. Proper training and safety protocols will be provided to minimize risks.

This means you will be expected to comply with proper PPE usage and behaviors compliant to our Food Safety and Quality standards. All plant employees must wear slip-resistant/non-slip shoes and provided uniforms while in the plant.
Pay Range
The target salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000/annually. The actual rate offered will depend on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, years of relevant experience.
