Position Summary:

The Service Solutions Manager is responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing business activities necessary for business development and maintenance of electrical service projects.  This position will oversee the pricing, bidding, budgeting, estimating, and pre-construction process for all service projects.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Establish and implement department and corporate operational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure company, divisional, and departmental technical policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to for field operations
  • Responsible for business development, obtaining new service contracts, and the successful completion of these projects to ensure profit is consistent with department, divisional, and corporate goals.
  • Maintain and enhance customer and vendor relationships, office administration, field employee management, safety, and overall project management.
  • Provide guidance and direction to subordinate employees in performing their duties consistent with company objectives, philosophy, and policy.
  • Responsible for the effective utilization of field employees.
  • Assist in the hiring, evaluation, and discipline of field service technicians.
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction, including customer retention and the prompt resolution of customer complaints.
  • Review and approve all billings for in-progress and completed projects.
  • Resolve disputes on delinquent accounts and subsequent collections.
  • Participate with Divisional Manager to develop and monitor short-term and long-term plans consistent and overall profit and growth objectives.
  • Maintain positive financial posture and monitor cost analysis activities relative to overall profit and loss responsibility for all service projects.
  • Review and reconciliation of financial results versus planned and, if necessary, development of action plans to recover from any shortfalls.
  • Perform estimating duties for labor and material cost for routine service proposals.
  • Review and approve service estimates and customer contract documents.
  • Assist in the review, negotiations, and execution of all subcontract agreements as needed.
  • Create strategic business development plans that will ensure the continued growth of the department.
  • Provide warranty service on completed projects.
  • Provide technical support for field employees.
  • Provide and coordinate 24-hour emergency services.
  • May be required to perform electrical installation or maintenance work as required.

Experience and Education: 

Required:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in the electrical construction or electrical service industry with supervisory, sales, and customer service experience.
  • Sufficient knowledge to understand the estimating of time and material work.
  • Business development experience with the ability to act upon additional work opportunities and recommend preventative maintenance or necessary repairs for clients.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of electrical operations concepts, best practices, and procedures, including the technical ability to understand and interpret electrical codes, NFPA, Unfirome building codes, and light systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).

 

Preferred:

  • Bilingual
  • Journeyman License

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. 

  • Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.
  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Ability to wear company-approved Personal Protective Equipment per local, state, federal, or OSHA regulations.
  • The employee must frequently lift and move items a minimum of 25 pounds, occasionally lifting and/or moving objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to perform physical duties listed above for extended periods.
  • This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/printers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • This job operates in an indoor professional office or job site environment. May work outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Employees may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee may occasionally be exposed to various extreme conditions while at various locations.
  • Employees will be exposed to moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phones, printers, and light traffic).

 

Position Type, Expected Hours of Work, and Travel:

This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work vary but equate to 40 hours per week.  May be requested to work overtime, nights, and weekends.

 

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
