Company Overview:
We are a custom cabinetry and general contracting business located in Glenmoore, PA, known for delivering high-quality craftsmanship in cabinetry and remodeling projects. Our company uses state-of-the-art tools, including a CNC machine, to manufacture custom cabinet components. We are seeking a skilled CNC Toolpath Designer for a short-term, project-based position to help maximize the potential of our CNC machine, with the possibility for extended collaboration.
Position Summary:
The CNC Toolpath Designer will be responsible for creating and refining toolpaths for various cabinet components, such as door profiles, using VCarve Pro, with additional work in KCD and Fusion 360. While this role does not involve operating the CNC machine itself, you will collaborate with our team to test toolpaths for accuracy. The focus will be on designing and setting up efficient, reusable toolpaths to streamline future production. This is a short-term project, expected to take a few weeks to complete, but there is potential for a longer-term role based on the results and your skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Toolpath Creation: Design and develop CNC toolpaths for a variety of cabinet components, including door profiles and custom features.
- Software Expertise: Utilize VCarve Pro as the primary tool for designing accurate and optimized toolpaths (experience with KCD and Fusion 360 is also beneficial).
- Toolpath Library: Build a comprehensive library of saved toolpaths that can be easily applied to future projects.
- Testing & Collaboration: Collaborate with CNC machine operators to test toolpaths and ensure they meet production and efficiency requirements. Additionally, help improve the output side of KCD for better integration with CNC workflows.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in CNC toolpath creation, preferably in woodworking or cabinetry.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in VCarve Pro is required, with experience in KCD and Fusion 360 being highly beneficial.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and techniques.
- Communication: Ability to collaborate with shop staff and understand practical CNC operation needs.
Position Details:
- Employment Type: Short-term, project-based position, expected to last a few weeks, with the possibility for extended work based on performance and need.
- Remote Work: Remote work is possible, though time spent in the shop will be required to test toolpaths on the CNC machine for accuracy.
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
- Location: Glenmoore, PA (with flexibility for remote work).
Additional Details:
This position will work directly with the owner of the company. Flexibility is key, as virtual meetings or calls may occasionally occur outside the typical 9-5 workday. The schedule is flexible based on your availability, with an expected project length of a few weeks.
