Job DescriptionJob Description

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a healthcare professional who specializes in improving challenging behaviors in children and adults. Their responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring progress

    Tracking and adjusting treatment plans as needed 

  • Providing supervision

    Instructing and supervising others, such as Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), BCaBAs, and graduate students 

  • Collaborating with others

    Working with teachers, speech therapists, and families to promote a multidisciplinary approach to treatment 

  • Documenting

    Keeping detailed notes of client meetings and progress, and completing other required documentation 

  • Researching

    Learning about new techniques and findings within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and applying them to their work 

  • Assessing clients

    Observing and assessing clients' behavior to identify the underlying causes of their challenges 

  • Developing plans

    Creating individualized behavior intervention plans to promote positive behavior change 

  • Implementing plans

    Putting plans into action in a variety of settings, including homes, schools, and the community 

BCBAs often work with people who have developmental disabilities, brain injuries, or emotional, social, or behavioral issues. They may also help clients manage stress or anger, or achieve personal behavior goals.
