Job DescriptionJob Description

We are offering an employment opportunity for a Java Developer with experience in AWS, Microservices, and Spring Boot in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The role primarily involves developing, managing, and operating a range of DevOps-related tools and processes for our IoT platform. You will be working in a cloud-based environment, focusing on creating and maintaining effective microservices-based architectures for our platform.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a variety of DevOps-related tools and technologies for the Signify IoT Platform.
  • Create tools and technologies to support all IoT engineering teams in building, debugging, testing, and managing the IoT's modern microservices-based cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaborate in defining methodologies and operational processes for the engineering teams.
  • Define common frameworks and software libraries in various programming languages that support the creation of efficient, scalable, and highly available microservice-based architectures.
  • Troubleshoot and manage the ongoing IoT Platform system architecture, identifying areas for improvement with an emphasis on quality, performance, and security.
  • Work closely with architects, technical product managers, and team members to translate system architecture and product requirements into well-designed, implemented, and tested software solutions.
  • Work in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software incrementally.
  • Promote the adoption of best-in-class software engineering practices, frameworks, and tools, providing guidance and feedback to other software developers.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field required; a Master's degree is desirable.
  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience as a software engineer focused on cloud-based systems.
  • Proficiency in a variety of programming languages, including but not limited to Java and Python. Knowledge of Golang and JavaScript (NodeJS) is desirable.
  • Proven experience in developing cloud-based services (SaaS) and platforms (PaaS).
  • In-depth hands-on experience with AWS, including traditional technologies (e.g., EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS) and cutting-edge paradigms (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, Fargate).
  • Proven experience in developing microservices and complex microservice-based platform architectures.
  • Excellent understanding of distributed systems, designing for scalability, performance, and availability.
  • Experience with improving platform security (including audit) and reliability (latency, availability, scalability).
  • Knowledge of distributed network architectures and network security is required.
  • Good knowledge of data persistence technologies including relational databases and no-SQL solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills, with a can-do attitude.
  • At least 3 years of experience in teams applying modern agile software development practices.
