Job Summary: The Fire Alarm Service Technician Foreman is responsible for inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems to ensure they meet safety and regulatory standards.

This role involves troubleshooting, identifying, and documenting issues, and performing deficiency repairs to ensure the effective operation of fire alarm systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspection and Testing:

  • Conduct routine inspections of fire alarm systems to identify potential issues.
  • Perform testing of fire alarm components to ensure proper functionality.
  • Document inspection and test results in accordance with regulations.

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on fire alarm systems to prevent malfunctions.
  • Identify and repair or replace faulty components, such as wires, devices, panels, communicators, etc.
  • Conduct system upgrades or modifications as needed.

Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with fire alarm systems.
  • Analyze and interpret technical drawings and specifications to address issues as needed
  • Recommend solutions to ensure systems are in compliance with local codes and standards.

Emergency Response:

  • Respond to emergency service calls for system malfunctions or failures.
  • Implement quick and effective solutions to minimize downtime and ensure safety.

Communication and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and repairs performed.
  • Prepare detailed reports for customers and regulatory authorities as well as outlining deficiencies to quote for customers.
  • Provide Service Manager with detailed updates for In Progress Job Statuses and Completed Jobs.

Customer Interaction:

  • Communicate with customers to explain findings, recommendations, and necessary repairs.
  • Regularly explore and identify additional service opportunities according to NFPA regulatory code.
  • Provide guidance on fire safety practices and compliance.

Training and Compliance:

  • Learn and stay current on industry codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of fire alarm experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications are a plus.
  • Low Voltage License Preferred.
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Must be proficient with the use of hand and power tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of Idaho fire codes, NFPA codes and standards, and other relevant regulations is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in confined spaces for 8+ hours per day.
  • May be required to lift and carry up 100+ pounds
  • Able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a variety of settings including single-family residential properties, multi-family residential properties, warehouses, office buildings, or any property requiring Fire Alarm service.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials
  • Full time employment currently Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm (winter hours) and 7am to 3:30pm (summer hours)

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
