S3 is a Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) which is an organization, owned by credit unions. We serve credit unions by supporting their operations and delivering world class service. We support the credit union members with their loans, deposits and other financial needs to achieve their goals.
The Home Equity Closer will be part of the talented Home Equity Closing team. This role will be responsible for reviewing loan files to prepare settlement documents, book loans to the credit union core systems to verify all pertinent information has been successfully transferred over. Provide excellent service to the members ensuring they understand what to expect prefunding and post funding. This role requires excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to adjust to changing business needs.

TOP JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct a thorough review of the loan file received from the processor.
Prepare closing documents for delivery to settlement agent and member.
Responsible for disbursing loan proceeds on funding date which could include internal disbursements, issuing checks, and wires as needed.
Book and disburse loans in the credit unions’ core system accurately.
Responsible for member communication to provide funding details prior to closing.
Other responsibilities and opportunities:
Coordinate with first mortgage fulfillment team and 3rd party title companies to facilitate any simultaneous settlements.
Work in collaboration and partnership with other team members, credit union partners, and vendors.
Additional job-related projects and duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
2 years of relevant work experience in the finance industry; home lending experience preferred.
Knowledge of State and Federal laws pertaining to the mortgage banking industry (ie: RESPA, TILA, ECOA etc.)
Candidate must be highly organized and able to handle a fast paced environment.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary.
Excellent customer service skills with strong attention to detail.
Time Management skills and the ability to prioritize workload based on department SLA’s and member needs.
Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and to collaborate with others.
Positive attitude and team-oriented

Work Environment- This position operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filling cabinets and fax machines.

This position will be responsible for coordinating closings with members, reviewing loan files in order to prepare settlement documents, and post-closing all completed/signed settlement packages to ensure all required documents have been completed and signed accurately, to book loans to the Credit Unions’ core systems and to verify all pertinent information has been successfully transferred over.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct a thorough QC review of the loan package received from the processor
- Coordinate settlement date and time with the member
- Prepare closing documents for delivery to settlement agent
- Calculate and issue wire proceeds in conjunction with closing date and settlement agent requirements
- Conduct a post-closing review the completed/signed loan package returned by the settlement agent to ensure accuracy and compliance with all CU requirements and state and federal regulatory requirements
- Book and disburse loans in the Credit Unions’ core system
- Interact with First Mortgage Fulfillment team and 3rd party Title companies in order to facilitate any simultaneous settlements
- Work in collaboration and partnership with other team members
- Additional job related projects as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 2-3 years of experience closing home equity or 1st trust mortgages preferred
- Strong knowledge of State and Federal laws pertaining to the mortgage banking industry (ie: RESPA, TILA, ECOA etc)
- Candidate must be highly organized and able to handle a fast paced environment
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary
- Excellent customer service skills with strong attention to detail
- Time Management skills and the ability to prioritize workload based on department SLA’s and member needs
- Strong analytical skills required with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed
- Ability to multi-task in other areas of the unit
