In the role of the Application Engineer you will perform the following:
SummaryWorking with minimal input, conceive, design, test and transfer to production new mechanical and electro-mechanical products. Provide support to our sales force, production, suppliers, and customers. Liaison between Sales and Engineering for custom-designed products.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProduct design
- Conceptual – Create and sketch from ideas or design parameters
- Engineering – Calculate safe and robust designs that are efficiently manufacturable
- Design components and assemblies
- Build and test prototypes, log results
- Create and maintain Bills of Material in ERP system
Sales / Customer Support
- Collaborate with Sales to specify customized product solutions to customer needs
- Design, prototype, and test customized product solutions
- Perform field demonstrations and installations
- Answer technical questions
Production Support
- Troubleshoot
- Design and make production fixtures and machinery
- Identify an implement productivity improvements in products and processes
- Assist repair department
Drafting
- Computer
- Hand

Supplier Development
- Identify appropriate capabilities
- Set-up files
- Aid in initial procurement
- Visit/Audit suppliers
Quality Control
- Inspect incoming parts
- Assign actions
- Follow company procedures and standards.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. with flexibility provided, as agreed-upon with manager.
Qualifications- Able to design on a CAD system (SolidWorks/AutoCAD)
- Perform complex engineering calculations
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills
- Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
- Enjoy working with hands
- Be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Use basic hand tools and measuring implements
- Strong 2D drafting and 3D modeling skills
- Understanding of GD&T and tolerance Stack Analysis
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
- 1+ years of experience as a design engineer, in industrial equipment or food production environments
- 1+ years of experience working directly with customers to find creative solutions
- Ability to manage multiple projects and multi-task
- Commitment to innovation and problem-solving, “roll up the sleeves” approach
