Job DescriptionJob Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated PLC Controls Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC-based control systems for industrial automation processes. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, electrical, and mechanical engineers, to ensure that control systems are optimized for safety, efficiency, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development:
    Develop, design, and implement PLC-based control systems for automated machinery and processes.

  • Programming:
    Create, modify, and optimize PLC programs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.) to meet system requirements, improve performance, and ensure integration with other systems.

  • Troubleshooting:
    Diagnose and resolve issues with control systems, including hardware, software, and communication problems, to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.

  • Testing and Commissioning:
    Conduct testing, simulation, and on-site commissioning of control systems to ensure they function as intended and meet safety and performance standards.

  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and process engineers to integrate PLC systems with existing infrastructure, including sensors, motors, and robotics.

  • Documentation:
    Create and maintain technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, program logic, and system specifications to support future maintenance and upgrades.

  • Compliance:
    Ensure all control systems comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.

  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identify opportunities to improve control system performance and reliability, and lead efforts to implement upgrades and enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in PLC programming and control system design.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, etc.) and platforms such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or Mitsubishi.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems, sensors, actuators, and control panels.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel for on-site commissioning and support as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with robotics and motion control systems.
  • Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., ISO, OSHA) and risk assessment in automation systems.
  • Certification in automation or control systems engineering.
