The Opportunity:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Claims Analyst to join our growing team.  If you are passionate about mental health and enjoy resolving complex billing challenges, this role could be a great fit for you  

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Claims Management: Monitor and manage the status of outstanding insurance claims, ensuring prompt resolution in accordance with industry regulations and insurance carrier guidelines.
  • Claims Re-billing: Follow up on re-billed and corrected claims to ensure they are submitted within insurance carrier filling deadlines.
  • Eligibility Verification: Accurately obtain and verify patient eligibility, coverage, benefits, and authorization information from insurance carriers.
  • Data Management: Maintain up-to-date patient, payer, and claim-related information, and proactively address any discrepancies that could affect reimbursement (e.g., 1500 claim forms, Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), patient insurance information).  
  • Documentation: Record all outstanding claim resolution activity within TherapyNotes, ensuring accurate and timely documentation in the system.  
  • Collaboration: Communicate with clinicians, external insurance payers, and other relevant entities to resolve outstanding claims.  Work closely with the manager or supervisor to stay informed about new processes, best practices, and developments related to claims resolution.  
  • Patient Communication: Respond to inquiries via phone and email from current and prospective patients regarding claims and billing concerns.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Report clinician non-compliance issues related to claims resolution to the manager/supervisor and assist in resolving problem claims as directed.
  • Administrative Support: Provide project-based and general administrative assistance to the team as needed, including business development support. 

May perform additional duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, particularly in working with clinicians, insurance carriers, and patients.  
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as TherapyNotes, and the ability to document accurately and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of insurance claims processes and familiarity with healthcare reimbursement practices, including California-specific regulations and HIPAA compliance.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

 

Requirements:

·        Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

·        Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in healthcare claims processing, insurance billing, or a related administrative role.  Experience in mental health or behavioral health setting is a plus.

·        Technology Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with billing software and EHR systems. 

·        Compliance: Knowledge of federal and California state healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and insurance carrier requirements.

 

Physical Requirements:

·        Ability to sit, talk, and hear regularly.

·        Frequent walking and standing may be required.

·        Occasionally required to lift and move objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
