Job Summary:
Tired of 80 hour work weeks during tax season? Because we do things differently We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Tax Manager to join our team in this hybrid role. Our ideal addition is able to use cloud-based applications and a variety of software tools while working largely from home with periodic onsite work days. Following through with our commitments and meeting deadlines is of the utmost importance. Key Responsibilities:
Client Interaction: Maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring the highest levels of client satisfaction, and establishing and upholding quality control standards to maximize client retention and growth.
Staff Development: Leading and mentoring the tax team, including a senior tax accountant and consultants.
Tax Planning: Creating tax projections, scenario modeling, and other analyses in our tax software and making updates to clients' payroll settings to adjust for planning goals.
Tax Compliance: Preparing and reviewing business and individual tax returns and assisting with audits. Responding to client tax notices (business and personal, income, payroll, and other). Handle correspondence with federal, state, and local tax authorities.
Tax Advisory: Making recommendations to clients about organizational structure decisions. Performing analysis and making recommendations about compensation structures, retirement plan structures, or employee incentive structures as they relate to taxes, as well as recommending and communicating tax savings strategies.
Tax Research: Thoroughly research topics to provide better service to clients.
Financial Statement Analysis: Prepare, review and analyze clients books to ensure accuracy, identify cost saving opportunities and compliance with relevant regulations as well as GAAP standards
Community Networking: Attend networking events to support company growth and represent the company in a professional and engaging manner.
Financial Systems: Maintain and update accounting software and systems to ensure efficient and accurate financial management.
Other tasks as assigned by CFO and Operations Manager
Reports directly to Operations Manager
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or EA with active status required and PTIN with ability to sign tax returns).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting or finance with a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. Proven track record of preparing and reviewing complex individual and business returns.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, CCH Axcess or Prosystems a plus.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant financial regulations.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, provide actionable insights and feedback to staff.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in reviewing tax returns and financial reporting.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues and proactively take action or recommend solutions.
Time Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Work Environment:
Hybrid role: You'll have a flexible schedule, be able to work-from-anywhere but with some onsite requirements.
Collaborative team environment.
Small office (6 - 7 employees)
