Line Cook/Prep Cook

Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, marinating meats, and other culinary tasks as required, ensuring all items are prepared according to the recipes and standards set by the head chef.
- Cooking: Cook and plate various Italian dishes with precision and attention to detail, adhering to established recipes and techniques, while maintaining consistency and taste.
- Station Organization: Set up and maintain a clean and organized work station, ensuring all necessary equipment and ingredients are readily available for efficient service.
- Quality Control: Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation and cooking, ensuring that all dishes meet the highest standards of taste, appearance, and presentation.
- Hygiene and Sanitation: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, following proper handling and storage procedures to ensure a safe and clean kitchen environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during service, coordinating dish preparation and timely delivery to maintain a smooth and efficient flow of food to the dining area.
- Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring and managing kitchen inventory levels, notifying the head chef or management when supplies need replenishing.
- Creativity: Suggest new ideas for menu items, specials, and improvements to existing dishes, contributing to the innovation and development of the restaurant's culinary offerings.
- Cleanliness: Help maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, equipment, and storage areas, and participate in regular cleaning schedules as required.
- Compliance: Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as health and safety guidelines, to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
- Previous experience as a cook or prep person in an Italian restaurant or similar culinary setting is preferred.
- A passion for Italian cuisine and a strong understanding of traditional Italian cooking techniques.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, with a focus on maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant setting, maintaining composure and efficiency during busy periods.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with the kitchen staff and front-of-house team.
- Flexibility in work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the restaurant's operational needs.
- Physical endurance to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a hot and busy kitchen environment.
