Job Summary:
The Mammography Technologist performs mammographic imaging procedures to assist in the
diagnosis and management of breast diseases. The role involves screening and diagnostic
mammograms, working with digital mammography and tomosynthesis equipment, and ensuring
high-quality imaging. The Mammo Tech ensures patient comfort, educates patients about
procedures, and follows safety and regulatory guidelines, particularly in compliance with MQSA
(Mammography Quality Standards Act).
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Mammograms: Conduct screening and diagnostic mammography procedures
interpretation.
- Patient Care: Greet and prepare patients by explaining the mammogram process,

Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
- Certification: ARRT(R) certification with additional mammography certification
- MQSA Compliance: Must meet MQSA guidelines, including having 40 hours of initial
and completing the required continuing education (15 CE credits in 36 months).
- BLS/CPR Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in mammography, including digital
Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in digital mammography and 3D tomosynthesis technology.
- Thorough understanding of breast anatomy, pathology, and positioning techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to ensure patient comfort and cooperation
- Detail-oriented with the ability to follow established protocols and maintain accurate
- Ability to handle sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Knowledge of and commitment to ongoing quality control and regulatory standards,
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a hospital, breast imaging center, or outpatient setting.
- Requires standing for extended periods and physically positioning patients.
- Exposure to radiation and potential contact with bloodborne pathogens or infectious diseases.
- Full-time, part-time, and per-diem positions available.
- May require day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
