This is a WFH position, but the employee's physical location must be in one of the following US states: FL, NY, MA, PA, KY, TX, CA, or WA.
Our Product Managers coordinate development with stakeholders based in the US, Europe, and Australia. There is no travel required for this position but there is a need to work across varying time zones. PMs also work closely with colleagues across the company in Customer Experience, Sales, & Marketing to provide product information and required support.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Product Manager (PM) position at Springshare is a multi-faceted role but the primary task is ensuring a smooth development process and motivating the team to deliver products and features on time and on budget. Specific PM duties include:
- Chart a product roadmap for assigned products by working with the internal stakeholders (CEO and VP of Product) and external partners (customers, vendors, consultants).
- Plan and direct the enhancements to product functionality based on industry research and communication with existing customers via our online community, The Springshare Lounge.
- Write functional specifications for new product features and bug reports, including a clear description of the work to be done, scope, limitations, mockups, and help text.
- Manage sprints to ensure all planned work gets done on time and on budget.
- Run daily scrum meetings to provide guidance to developers and help remove blockers.
- Communicate regularly with our clients via various channels.
- Channel the product plans and value propositions to internal and external stakeholders.
- Write public release blog posts for external stakeholders.
- Function as the internal and external subject matter expert / Tier 3 support for your product(s).
Essential Qualifications & Required Skills:
- Organization – Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep track of the progress of multiple developers working on separate but related functional projects.
- Product Management - Turn product ideas into functional and detailed work for our developers. Scope the development work and determine difficulty and required timelines. This requires information gathering & working with stakeholders to determine the scope of work, MVP, etc.
- People Management – Strong intrapersonal skills and the ability to lead and motivate the development team. Ensure everyone is aligned around the same goal to develop required functionality on time and on budget.
- Communication – Strong written and oral communication. Write clear issue descriptions and describe new functionality via engaging storytelling. The PM will be regularly interacting with our customers so strong, engaging, and professional communication is a must.
- Collaboration - You'll partner with our developers, QA team, CX Team, Sales, Marketing, and our customers to help drive projects that can achieve desirable and measurable outcomes.
Education & Work Experience:
- A college-level professional degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of Product Management experience in a Software or Ed-Tech industry.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Code Repository/Management (e.g. Github, Bitbucket) and Product/Project Management tools (e.g. ZenHub, Asana).
- Experience working with agile/scrum methodologies
- Bonus: Experience with Accessible Design principles
- Bonus: Experience with product mockup software like Figma
