Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Pre-Press Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pre-press operations, including file preparation, color management, digital workflow, and troubleshooting. As an experienced Pre-Press Technician, you will work closely with our production teams to ensure all materials are accurately prepared for print production. You will be responsible for ensuring that files meet industry standards and are ready for high-quality output / printing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • File Preparation & Verification:
    • Prepare and pre-flight digital files for various printing processes (offset, digital, large format, etc.).
    • Ensure that all files are correctly formatted, color-corrected, and meet technical specifications.
    • Troubleshoot and correct errors in artwork, including color discrepancies, resolution issues, and file corruption.
  • Color Management:
    • Implement color management processes to ensure accurate color reproduction in print.
    • Work with ICC profiles and color proofing to match the output to client expectations and industry standards.
  • Digital Workflow Management:
    • Operate and maintain pre-press equipment such as RIPs (Raster Image Processors), proofing systems, and printers.
    • Monitor and optimize the digital workflow to ensure efficiency and accuracy in the production process.
    • Generate and manage plates for offset printing and other press-related materials.
  • Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with the design team, project managers, and press operators to ensure clear understanding of job requirements and timelines.
    • Provide technical support to designers and clients, offering solutions for file and print-related issues.
  • File Archiving & Management:
    • Archive final print-ready files and proofs for future reference or reprints.
    • Maintain accurate records of job specifications, print files, and adjustments made to files during pre-press.
  • Quality Control:
    • Conduct final checks of proofs, ensuring they meet quality standards before approval and production.
    • Ensure all pre-press processes are completed within specified timelines and meet production deadlines.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a pre-press role within the printing industry.
    • Strong experience with industry-standard pre-press software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, PitStop Pro, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
    • Familiarity with RIP software and print production workflows.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Expertise in preparing files for various printing methods (e.g., digital, offset, and wide format).
    • Knowledge of color management systems, including ICC profiles and proofing processes.
    • Strong understanding of file formats (PDF, EPS, TIFF, etc.) and their use in print production.
  • Attention to Detail:
    • Ability to identify and resolve technical issues with files, colors, and layouts.
    • Meticulous attention to detail in file preparation and proofing.
  • Problem-Solving:
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Ability to communicate effectively with designers, production staff, and clients to clarify requirements and resolve any issues.
  • Time Management:
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
