ELECTRICAL DESIGNER
Your New Role
As an experienced designer, you design electrical systems (power, lighting, fire alarm and low voltage) for building construction. Under minimal supervision, you perform drafting, detailing and design assignments which require the application of advanced drafting and/or fundamental design techniques in accordance with company and industry standards and codes.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING- Project team member on a variety of building and construction types. Work with other project team members to understand scope of work, schedule and budget.
- Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFPs, etc. and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents.
- Perform routine checking and/or verification tasks including the coordination with other disciplines to ensure that conflicts and interferences are avoided.
- Attend project meetings, jobsite visits and/or conduct on-site investigations/assessments of existing buildings as required for projects; all of which may require occasional overnight travel.
- Prepare engineering and construction drawings utilizing Revit, AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information per company policies and procedures.
- Assist with trouble-shooting activities and BIM system set-up and procedures.
- Daily communication of project status with electrical project team members and internal/external disciplines as needed.
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities may be required to ensure client project delivery and company operations.
- Associate or technical degree in Design/Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology or related discipline is required. Candidates with a high school degree and equivalent experience will be considered.
- 2+ years’ experience working as an electrical designer is required.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, Revit and AutoCAD. Knowledge of MicroStation and current electrical engineering software (e.g., Visual Lighting, AGI 32, SKM Power*Tools) is a plus. Ability to maintain skill levels within the changing technology environment.
- Ability to navigate and apply national, state and local codes along with industry standards (e.g., American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning-ASHRAE, International Energy Conservation Code- IECC, National Fire Protection Association-NFPA, etc.) to overall project and individual system designs.
- Comfortable working in a high-demand, fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail and meeting deadlines as required. Routinely self-checks own work for completeness and accuracy.
- Organized and able to work on several projects, a multitasker and comfortable working independently and effectively in a team environment to deliver projects.
- Positive and professional attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and clients in person or virtually.
- The applicant is a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident with a valid Green Card.
