Position Summary

In this role, the individual will be responsible for the design and build of tooling, whether internally or from external suppliers, to support new product introduction and daily production needs.

Essential Functions

  1. Under general direction, applies advanced engineering concepts to design, modify and build the tooling required to produce a particular part or parts, to specifications and quality standards
  2. Reviews blueprints of the part, the engineering release, and operations to be performed to determine design requirements
  3. Prepares detailed cost estimates for tooling and obtains competitive prices from vendors and manages budgets
  4. Manages vendors to receive tooling according to the production schedule
  5. Works closely with plant and engineering staff to identify and correct any possible tool-related problems or improvement modifications
  6. May provide technical leadership, mentoring and assist in training less-experienced personnel
  1. Performs other duties as assigned

None

Work Environment

This job operates in both an office environment and a manufacturing environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computes, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The individual will be required to adhere to safety policies and procedures on the manufacturing floor.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, with additional hours as business needs necessitate.

Travel

Availability to train for a month in Italy at the headquarters of the Lincotek Group, if necessary. Otherwise, limited to no travel.

Education

A tool and die journeyman card is preferred

Skills

  1. At least 4-5 years of proven experience in the mechanical and technical design field
  2. Experience negotiating with vendors and managing budgets
  3. Strong knowledge of SolidWorks
  4. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  5. Strong ability to communicate to technical and non-technical staff
