Summary of essential job functions

Ease the workload of employees and increase operational efficiency and reliability by automating redundant or unreliable manual processes.

Develop, design, and implement automated processes within the manufacturing operations of the company. This includes preparing and presenting extensive documentation, including guidelines for design that facilitate product manufacturing and implementation and will be used to execute and maintain new manufacturing process systems.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsible for designing, constructing, and implementing different automated manufacturing systems to improve the safety, efficiency, and quality of Tower Fabrication manufacturing processes. This includes designing, programming, modeling, testing, and implementing automated apparatus or systems for production-based tasks. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create layouts for automation components and analyze production processes to identify optimal outcomes. Carry out routine maintenance of automation tools, and execute fixes and troubleshooting as necessary. In addition to creating specifications for quality assurance and the operation of machines, collaborate with production and operations to perform equipment calibrations and maintenance as required.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain automation operations

Debug, repair, troubleshoot, and conduct root cause analysis on production defects and low performance in operations. Share the performance of processes with colleagues and advising stakeholders on the technical aspects of implementing automation programs.

2. Collaborate with stakeholders

Extensive collaboration with production, quality, purchasing, maintenance, scheduling, and accounting personnel to identify potential problems and resolve issues while continually looking for ways to improve.

3. Design, install, and migrate systems

Design and install automated systems and validate that the machinery and equipment being utilized are capable of doing what is required, and what it was designed for so that the intended outcomes are achieved.

4. Develop software code

Create programs as needed (Python, C++, and Java) to create code that controls automated systems. This code can be used to program bots or other automated machinery. It can also be used to create apps that can assist with the automation process in its entirety.

5. Train automation users

When automation is implemented for a new procedure or piece of equipment, training of the equipment operators is required. Guide trainee’s through the process by conducting walkthroughs and clarifying their assumptions regarding trouble shooting and the associated corrective actions.

6. Monitoring automation and providing support

Ensure the correct maintenance components are in stock to actively collaborating with engineering and maintenance colleagues to optimize automation performance according to operational objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).

MRP experience a plus, but not required

Machining/metal working experience a plus, but not required
