Data Scientist

As a Data Scientist at SASSI, you will have the opportunity to make a real-world impact by leveraging your analytical skills and data science expertise. You will work closely with our clients to understand their questions and needs and dive into data-rich environments to find solutions. Our mission is to turn massive amounts of structured and unstructured data into actionable insights, and we need your help to achieve this.
Responsibilities:
As a Data Scientist at SASSI, your role will include, but not be limited to:
- Improving an existing platform hosted in the AWS commercial cloud.
- Aggregating data from various sources and developing tools to assist in the normalization and correlation of terabytes of existing and future data.
- Enhancing the platform to allow users to easily search and access data.
- Collaborating with a team of software engineers experienced in Python, Elastic, Kibana, C++, Jupyter Notebooks, and Gitlab.
- Conducting data exploration, data cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, and data mining.
- Developing predictive data models and quantitative analyses.
- Analyzing structured and unstructured data sources for data analysis.
- Utilizing programming languages like Python, R, Java, TensorFlow, PyTorch, ApacheSpark, Apache NiFi, SQL, NoSQL, Tableau, JavaScript, Flask, AWS, and Azure.
- Using data visualization tools to present analytic results.
- Applying knowledge of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or Natural Language Processing.
- Evaluating data methods, models, and algorithms.
- Transforming poorly defined problems into actionable questions with quantitative solutions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Experience with two or more of the following disciplines: business analytics, statistics, data verification and validation, and data visualization.
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods.
- Proficiency in creating data visualization mockups, prototypes, and documentation.
- Ability to interpret data models and work with diverse data sources and structures.
- Experience translating customer requirements into project or system specifications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to break down ambiguous problems into actionable plans.
- Proficiency in Tableau, Power BI, or similar interactive data visualization software.
- Experience in data transformation, manipulation, and combination using Python, Excel, and SQL.
Highly Desired Skills:
While not required, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable:
- Experience with data derived from technical missions, taskings, collection, processing, analysis, or dissemination.
- Familiarity with Sponsor business or mission data, Sponsor applications, or Sponsor database structures.
- Knowledge of the Sponsor's data handling procedures.
- Proficiency in visualization tools such as Jupyter, Visio, Sharepoint, or Confluence.
- Experience with APIs and version control systems like GitHub.
- Proficiency in Python or R.
